VanGaard Downhole

Selective Release & Recovery Tool

Sentinel SRT

The Sentinel SRT is a specialized Recovery Tool designed to work with the Gaardian SRT.

After releasing from the Gaardian SRT tool, the Gaardian SRT is ran in with the fishing BHA to relatch the profile of the Gaardian SRT left downhole and commence fishing operations without the need to run a conventional overshot. The Gaardian SRT can be ran with a selection of styles and sizes of guides as required for fishing operations.

Tool Features

  • Can be released and re‐latched multiple times.
  • Requires only 20º of rotation to release.
  • RH and LH rotation release options.
  • Withstands jarring loads during fishing operations.
  • Large bore ID allows for wireline operations.
  • Full torque‐thru operations during fishing operations.

To Latch

  • Set down while slowly rotating string.
  • Once tool engages, stop rotating and slide down onto tool
  • No further rotation is required—the tool is self‐guiding.
  • Once tool is latched, fishing operations can proceed.

To Release

  • Rotate work string and P/U slowly.
  • Continue to work torque downhole until tool releases.

Benefits

  • Ability to disconnect and re-connect at will to address well control issues or any upper hole tool issues.
  • Smaller OD for body length vs over shots for better alignment during engagement of Gaardian SRT tool.
  • Ability to jet fluid down slots on Gaardian SRT tool for effective cleaning during engagement.
  • Seals when engaged which confirms swallow and allows for forward circulation thru BHA.
  • Ability to transmit torque to fish while jarring in either direction.
  • Offers the ability to safely add tools in the fishing string that are not wireline passable on the ID, such as vibration inducing tools, and still offer the ability to do an "at will release" even if max torque is applied during vibration and jarring.
  • Able to release from a fish that rotates.
