Selective Release & Recovery Tool
Gaardian SRT
The Evolution of Pipe Recovery
VanGaard Downhole Inc. is proud to announce the development of the GAARDIAN SRT - Selective Release Tool. Developed for drilling & fishing operations, the GAARDIAN SRT allows for release from the drill string and begin a quick turn around to fishing operations.
When drilling rigs become stuck, the chances of a successful fishing job worsen with each passing hour — pipe recovery units to mobilize, 3rd party services to plan, organize and arrive on location. The costs associated with this NPT add to making fishing operations financially unviable.

Tool Features
- Allows for full torque thru operations while fishing.
- Can be released and re‐latched multiple times.
- Multiple tools can be run in the same string.
- Requires only 20º of rotation to release.
- RH and LH rotation release options.
- Withstands jarring loads during fishing operations.
- Large bore ID allows for wireline operations.
To Release
- Slowly P/U work string until shear is exceeded and weight drops off indicator.
- Set down work string to neutral weight.
- Rotate work string and P/U slowly.
- Continue to work torque downhole until tool releases.
To Relatch
- Set down while slowly rotating string.
- Once tool engages, stop rotating and slide down onto tool.
- No further rotation is needed—the tool is self‐guiding.
- Once tool is latched fishing operations can proceed.
Large Bore ID allows for wireline operations.
Proprietary shear pin design resistant to vibration fatigue (Patent pending).
No operational pressure limitations.
